Why do you volunteer for STEAM for All?

I have loved math all my life and participated in the All Girls Math Tournament throughout elementary and middle school. Ever since, I’ve wanted to give back to my community and provide the same opportunities to as many girls as possible. It brings me so much joy to be able to provide inspire more young girls to continue to pursue STEM despite female underrepresentation.

Why do you volunteer for STEAM for All?

I want to give back to the community and provide experiences similar to the ones I was fortunate to be given, and instill a love for math and science in others. I have learned how to communicate well with others to complete tasks and projects. Steam for All has taught me what my strengths and weaknesses are, and how I can overcome them. In the upcoming year, I hope to expand the outreach of the All Girls Math Tournament. I think it is vital that girls pursue an interest in STEM, and that AGMT is an organization who can facilitate this effort.

Why do you volunteer for STEAM for All?

As I child, I always remember being daunted by the boys who constantly surrounded me. From math tournaments to robotics, I was often the only girl which discouraged me from joining tournaments and classes. All Girls Math tournament has truly shown me the importance of girls education. Through interacting with various groups of girls over the past two years, I have learned how valuable an all girls learning environment can be.

Why do you volunteer for STEAM for All?

Volunteering at AGMT, I can help close the gender gap in the math field. Closing the gender gap globally seems like an impossible thing to accomplish, but it is possible and it starts with my community. I choose to volunteer at AGMT because AGMT is what I can help with to help prevent another girl from feeling out of place in a math setting. Dedicating my time and effort to helping foster interests in math, especially in girls, is worthwhile and that worthwhileness is why I continue to volunteer.

Why do you volunteer for STEAM for All?

STEAM for ALL (Math for Service) was a big part of my growing up and I want to give back to the community by helping out in any way I can through this program. The unique atmosphere STEAM for ALL provides for students today helps both the volunteer and the learner grow; I want to be part of that growth and inspire younger girls to have a lifelong interest in math. My skills in school planning and club leadership have prepared me well for this role of encouraging students to pursue their passion.
